La Fundación Robert Schuman en el corazón de Europa

Creada en 1991, tras la caída del muro de Berlín y reconocida de utilidad pública en 1992, la Fundación Robert Schuman actúa en favor de la construcción europea tanto en el ámbito de las ideas como sobre el terreno, lo más cerca posible de los ciudadanos. Reconocido centro de investigación sobre la Unión Europea, la Fundación se confió como principal misión guardar vivos el espíritu y la inspiración de uno "los Padres de Europa", Robert Schuman y promover los valores y los ideales europeos tanto dentro como fuera de las fronteras de la Unión.

La Fundación Robert Schuman persigue tres objetivos principales :

1. Contribuir a los debates y a la progresión de la Unión Europea
La Fundación se apoya en una red de investigadores y corresponsales y solicita, de manera regular, los servicios de personalidades, expertos y especialistas de la Unión Europea. Los estudios y análisis de la Fundación tienen por objetivo procurar a los responsables europeos información, argumentos y elementos de reflexión de calidad sobre la Unión. Estos estudios constituyen una valiosa fuente de información para todos los que quieren entender los interrogantes y los desafíos a nivel europeo.

2. Acompañar a los nuevos Estados miembro en su integración a la Unión Europea y establecer vínculos con los vecinos de la Unión
La Fundación Schuman multiplica las iniciativas sobre el terreno para hacer avanzar la democracia en Europa. Interviene en todos los nuevos Estados miembro de la Unión, en los países candidatos a la adhesión y en los nuevos vecinos de la Unión con el fin de establecer con ellos vínculos privilegiados, acompañarlos en sus relaciones con Europa y contribuir al establecimiento de un Estado de Derecho conforme a las normas europeas.

3. Incentivar la investigación y a los jóvenes investigadores europeos
La Fundación es uno de los centros de investigación que más publica sobre la Unión Europea y sus políticas. En concreto, da la oportunidad a jóvenes investigadores para que publiquen sus trabajos. También otorga becas de investigación a estudiantes de doctorado o postdoctorado que trabajan en temas europeos.

Para cumplir sus objetivos, la Fundación Robert Schuman conduce una política activa de publicaciones y organiza numerosos acontecimientos.

Las publicaciones

La Fundación Robert Schuman contribuye, a través de la edición de obras, a alimentar el debate sobre Europa. Se publican anualmente El Informe Schuman sobre el Estado de la Unión y La Opinión europea.

La Fundación publica, en su colección de Notas , trabajos originales sobre las evoluciones económicas, sociales y estratégicas que marcan la Unión Europea e influyen sobre su futuro.

Cada semana, la Fundación envía, por vía electrónica, un boletín informativo, la Carta (abonnez-vous) que ofrece una visión completa de la actualidad europea. Difundida en cinco idiomas (francés, inglés, alemán, español y polaco), actualmente va dirigida a más de 126.000 suscriptores en todo el mundo. En cada Carta, la Fundación publica un estudio Cuestiones sobre Europa , papel estratégico de la Fundación que profundiza en una cuestión de interés público, o Entrevistas de Europa, que recoge el punto de vista de importantes personalidades sobre un tema de actualidad.

El Observatorio de las Elecciones en Europa suministra, en tiempo real, un análisis detallado de lo que está en juego y de los resultados de cada escrutinio presidencial, legislativo o referéndum en el conjunto de los países del continente europeo.

La Fundación favorece la difusión de información europea en los centros con vocación pedagógica, bibliotecas y centros de documentación. También se distribuyen folletos de información "para todos los públicos" con motivo de cada gran acontecimiento europeo.

Las actividades

Porque la confrontación de las ideas es indispensable para que avance el ideal democrático europeo, la Fundación organiza y participa en numerosos encuentros, conferencias y mesas redondas tanto europeas como internacionales.

Desarrolla diversos programas de investigación en cooperación con centros universitarios y think tank. La Fundación ha establecido, a lo largo de los años, una importante red de socios en Europa y en el mundo con el fin de debatir e intercambiar opiniones sobre el proyecto europeo y sus perspectivas de futuro. Participa así en la instauración de una red europea abierta y multinacional y ocupa un lugar privilegiado entre los protagonistas principales del debate público europeo.

Por otra parte, también colabora en la organización de seminarios de formación para jóvenes responsables europeos tanto en los Estados miembros de la Unión como en los países vecinos.

La Fundación la dirige una Junta y un Consejo de Administración que fijan los ejes estratégicos, y un Comité científico que decide sobre la orientación de los trabajos y los evalúa.
