Women and Europe – 19 November
The Robert Schuman Foundation, in partnership with FAES, the Constantinos Karamanlis Institute for Democracy, Ano Pro Evropu, the Ithaka Foundation, and with the support of the “Europe for citizens” program, organises on 19 November in Brussels the conference, “Women in Europe. For a true parity.” Notably participating in the conference is José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, Vaira Vike-Freiberga, former president of Latvia, Margot Wallström, Vice-President of the European Commission and Vladimir Spidla, Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, and Equal Opportunities.

Romanian Presidential Election - 1st Round - November 22nd
12 candidates face off on 22nd November in the 1st round of the Romanian presidential election. The battle is tough between the outgoing President, Traian Basescu, the leader of PSD Mircea Geoana, who stormed out of the government only a few weeks ago, the mayor of Bucharest Sorin Oprescu who stormed out of PSD 18 months ago, and the president of PNC, Crin Antonescu, whom the president had governed with beforehand.

The Robert Schuman Foundation organises on Thursday 12 November in Brussels a seminar on the theme, “The Stockholm Programme: An improved management strategy for information in the area of Justice, Liberty, and Security.” This event will be an opportunity for debate, with representatives from European institutions, member states and the economic sector, on issues such as border management, interstate cooperation, the collection and distribution of data and the difficult balance between security and liberty.
